Abandoning the Qur'an: The Prophet's (ﷺ) Painful Complaint

Allah ﷻ says in the Qur'an:
وَ قَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَارَبِّ إِنَّ قَومِي
And the Prophet (ﷺ) will say "Oh my Lord! Indeed, my people..."
Prophet ﷺ will complain to Allah ﷻ!
Indeed, my people have deserted this Qur'an!
[25:30]
In a hadith narrated by Jaabir رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said:
الْقُرْآنُ شَافِعٌ مُشَفَّعٌ، وَمَاحِلٌ مُصَدَّقٌ، مَنْ جَعَلَهُ أَمَامَهُ قَادَهُ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ، وَمَنْ جَعَلَهُ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ سَاقَهُ إِلَى النَّارِ
“The Qur’an is an intercessor whose intercession will be accepted and an opponent whose testimony will be accepted. Whoever puts it in front of him, it will lead him to Paradise, and whoever puts it behind his back, it will drive him to Hell.”
[Ibn Hibbaan (124), Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani]
You wish to cleanse the grief and the distress and heartache. The Qur'an will cleanse them for you.
Allah ﷻ says
And we have sent down of the Qur'an that which is a healing
And a mercy for the believers
[17:82]
Ibn Kathir رحمه الله writes "It is sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise, is a cure and a mercy for the believers, meaning that it takes away whatever is in their hearts of doubt, hypocrisy, shirk, confusion and inclination towards falsehood. The Qur'an cures all of that. It is also a mercy through which one attains faith and wisdom and seeks goodness."

We must be people of the Qur'an! Reciting, understanding and acting upon it. For this Qur'an will instill the Noor of Allah ﷻ in our hearts. This Qur'an will open our hearts and remove the darkness from it. This Qur'an will lead us to Jannah!
_
But we must be people who recite, for only those who recite can understand and only those who understand could ever act upon its words!
_
The Qur'an provided comfort for Muhammad ﷺ and it too provides comfort for us in every context!
_
When Prophet ﷺ was in the cave and Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه was worried.
When you have sorrow!
Don't be sad, Allah is with us!
[9:40]
_
May Allah ﷻ make the Qur'an the guiding light of our lives and make it a means for our entry into Jannah.
Ibn Kathir (rahimahu Allah) states that this is one type, the worst form, of abandonment. Of the other forms, he says:
“When he would recite the Qur’an to them, they would talk nonsense or speak about something else, so that they would not hear it. This is a form of forsaking it and not believing in it is also forsaking it, and neglecting pondering about it and understanding it is a form of forsaking it, and leaving behind the knowledge of it and complying with its orders and avoiding its prohibitions is from forsaking it, and turning away from it to any other thing such as poetry or sayings or singing or amusement or talking, or taking a path other than it is from forsaking it.”
