【THE SKY WILL LISTEN , AND THE EARTH WILL OBEY 84.1-5*】

 

*【When the Universe Obeys: The Powerful Message of Surah Al-Inshiqaq】*

_Through the opening ayaat Allah ﷻ tells us that on the Day of Judgment the oceans and rivers will be filled up, the mountains will be crushed to pieces and scattered, and the earth will be leveled and turned into a smooth plain. _

▪ Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said that the Prophet ﷺ said,

 عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ

تُمَدُّ الْأَرْضُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَدًّا لِعَظَمَةِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُ لِبَشَرٍ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ إِلَّا مَوْضِعُ قَدَمَيْهِ، ثُمَّ أُدْعَى أَوَّلَ النَّاسِ، فَأَخِرُّ سَاجِدًا، ثُمَّ يُؤْذَنُ لِي، فَأَقُومُ فَأَقُولُ: يَا رَبِّ، أَخْبِرْنِي هَذَا، لِجِبْرِيلَ وَهُوَ عَنْ يَمِينِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَاللَّهِ مَا رَآهُ جِبْرِيلُ قَبْلَهَا قَطُّ، أَنَّكَ أَرْسَلْتَهُ إِلَيَّ، قَالَ: وَجِبْرِيلُ سَاكِتٌ لَا يَتَكَلَّمُ حَتَّى يَقُولَ اللَّهُ: صَدَقَ، ثُمَّ يُؤْذَنُ لِي فِي الشَّفَاعَةِ، فَأَقُولُ: يَا رَبِّ، عِبَادُكَ عَبَدُوكَ فِي أَطْرَافِ الْأَرْضِ، فَذَلِكَ الْمَقَامُ الْمَحْمُودُ

🌿English Meaning

“On the Day of Resurrection, the earth will be spread out extensively because of the greatness of the Most Merciful. Then there will be nothing for any human being from the children of Adam except the place for his two feet.

Then I will be the first of the people to be called, and I will fall down in prostration. 

Then I will be given permission, and I will stand and say: ‘My Lord, inform me about this.’ This refers to Jibrīl, who will be at the right of the Most Merciful. By Allah, Jibrīl had never seen him before that, that You had sent him to me.

Jibrīl will remain silent and will not speak until Allah says: ‘He has spoken the truth.’ Then I will be given permission to intercede, and I will say: ‘My Lord, Your servants worshipped You throughout the farthest parts of the earth.’ That is the Praiseworthy Station (Al-Maqām al-Maḥmūd).”

📝 Note: The ending of this narration refers to the Maqām Maḥmūd (Praiseworthy Station) of the Prophet ﷺ and his intercession on the Day of Resurrection. 

Ibn Kathīr also cited this narration in his explanation of Surah Al-Inshiqāq 84:3 — 

“And when the earth is stretched out.”

_From this we understand that on that Day all men born from the first day of creation till the Day of Judgment will be resurrected and produced in the Divine Court. _

_The earth be turned into a vast plain so that all individuals of human race may have room on it to stand on their feet. _

▪ The earth listens to and obeys the commands of its Lord because that is the right thing to do.

▪ Allah’s command is great and honorable, it cannot be rejected.

📍 When it will be instructed to produce what is within it, the earth will throw out the dead buried in it and empty itself.

▪These short ayaat vividly demonstrate how both the sky and earth receive their orders and instantly comply with them.

▪ Their obedience is a manifestation of their conscious and dutiful submission.

The impression it leaves is one of humble and obedient submission to Allah ﷻ
