❖ KEY POINTS ❖

🔵 The two Ṣaḥīḥs hold a special position among the books of Ḥadīth.

🟠 The four Sunan are major sources of Prophetic Aḥādīth and Fiqh, but their narrations are not all Ṣaḥīḥ.

🟣 Earlier collections such as al-Muwaṭṭaʾ, Musnad Aḥmad and the Muṣannafāt preserve a vast heritage of Prophetic and early Islamic reports.

🟢 Later scholars such as Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Ḥibbān, al-Ḥākim, ad-Dāraquṭnī, al-Bayhaqī and aṭ-Ṭabarānī expanded and preserved the science through their own specialized works.

🟡 Scholars such as al-Khaṭīb al-Baghdādī, al-Mizzī, adh-Dhahabī, an-Nawawī, al-ʿIrāqī, Ibn Ḥajar and as-Suyūṭī preserved, explained, classified and critically examined the vast heritage of Ḥadīth.
