“Tell me, if there was a river at the door of one of you in which he bathed five times every day, would any dirt remain on him?”

They said, “No dirt would remain on him.”

He ﷺ said:

“That is the example of the five daily prayers by which Allah wipes away sins.”

“Indeed, I have made five prayers obligatory upon your Ummah, and I have taken a covenant upon Myself that whoever preserves them at their appointed times, I will admit him into Paradise. Whoever does not preserve them, then he has no covenant with Me; I may punish him or forgive him.”

6. Salah, Jumu‘ah, and Ramadan Are Expiations for Sins

📚 Reference: Sahih Muslim, Hadith 657

14. Proper Salah Wipes Away Previous Sins

‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (رضي الله عنه) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say:

“There is no Muslim who attends an obligatory prayer, performs its wudu properly, and has humility in it and perfects its bowing, except that it becomes an expiation for the sins before it, so long as he does not commit a major sin. This applies throughout his life.”

Conclusion

Salah is not merely an obligation; it is a source of forgiveness, protection, guidance, and closeness to Allah. The Prophet ﷺ taught that those who guard their prayers will find light and salvation on the Day of Judgment, while neglecting Salah is a matter of great seriousness.
