 **1. Maryam (مَرْيَم) – Mary (Mother of Prophet Isa/Jesus)**

 

 

- **Surah Ali Imran (3:42):**

 

 

وَإِذْ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَا مَرْيَمُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَاكِ وَطَهَّرَكِ وَاصْطَفَاكِ عَلَىٰ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ

 

 

*And [mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allah has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds."*

 

 

 

- **Surah Maryam (19:16-34):** (Detailed story of Maryam)

 

 

وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَرْيَمَ إِذِ انْتَبَذَتْ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا مَكَانًا شَرْقِيًّا

 

 

*And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.*

 **2. Wife of Adam (حواء) – Hawwa (Eve)**

 

 

- Although Hawwa (Eve) is not mentioned by name in the Quran, she is referred to as Adam’s wife:

 

 

**Surah Al-Baqarah (2:35):**

 

 

وَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا

 

*And We said, "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will."*

 **3. Wife of Nuh (نُوح) – Wife of Noah**

 

 

- **Surah At-Tahrim (66:10):**

 

ضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا امْرَأَتَ نُوحٍ وَامْرَأَتَ لُوطٍ

 

 

*Allah presents an example of those who disbelieved: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot.*

**4. Wife of Lut (لُوط) – Wife of Lot**

 

 

- **Surah Hud (11:81):**

 

 

قَالُوا يَا لُوطُ إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَن يَصِلُوا إِلَيْكَ فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَكَ

 

 

*The angels said, "O Lot, indeed we are messengers of your Lord; [therefore], they will never reach you. So set out with your family during a portion of the night and let not any among you look back—except your wife."*

**5. Wife of Aziz (زليخة) – Potiphar’s Wife (Traditionally named Zulaikha)**

 

 

- Referred to in the story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph):

 

 

**Surah Yusuf (12:23):**

 

 

وَرَاوَدَتْهُ الَّتِي هُوَ فِي بَيْتِهَا عَن نَّفْسِهِ

 

 

*And she, in whose house he was, sought to seduce him.*

**6. Mother of Musa (أُمّ مُوسَى) – Mother of Moses**

 

 

- **Surah Al-Qasas (28:7):**

 

 

وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ

 

 

 

*And We inspired to the mother of Moses, "Suckle him..."*

**7. Asiya (آسِيَة) – Wife of Pharaoh (Firaun)**

 

 

- **Surah At-Tahrim (66:11):**

 

 

وَضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا امْرَأَتَ فِرْعَوْنَ

 

 

*And Allah presents an example of those who believed: the wife of Pharaoh...*

 **8. Balqis (بَلْقِيس) – Queen of Sheba**

 

 

- **Surah An-Naml (27:23):**

 

 

إِنِّي وَجَدتُّ امْرَأَةً تَمْلِكُهُمْ وَأُوتِيَتْ مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَلَهَا عَرْشٌ عَظِيمٌ

 

 

*"Indeed, I found a woman ruling them, and she has been given of all things, and she has a great throne."*

 **Note:**

 

 

- **Hawwa (Eve)** is not mentioned by name in the Quran but is referred to as Adam’s wife.

 

 

- **Zulaikha** (Potiphar’s wife) is not named in the Quran but is known in Islamic tradition.

 

 

- **Maryam (Mary)** is the only woman mentioned **by name** in the Quran.
