بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Everything we say, do, conceal, reveal, send forward, or leave behind is known to Allāh ﷻ.
The Qur’ān repeatedly reminds us that human actions are recorded, preserved, brought forward, weighed, and ultimately presented before us.
Nothing is lost.
Nothing is forgotten.
Nothing escapes the knowledge of Allāh ﷻ.
These selected āyāt offer a powerful reminder to examine our deeds before the Day when our record will be opened.

❖ ① THE NOBLE RECORDING ANGELS
كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ ١١ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ ١٢
❖ Al-Infiṭār — 82: 11–12
“Noble and recording; they know whatever you do.”
The Qur’ān describes the angels entrusted with recording deeds as كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ — Kirāman Kātibīn, noble scribes.

Our actions are not meaningless moments that simply disappear.
Every deed has significance, and the believer should therefore be conscious of what he puts forward.

❖ ② NOTHING ESCAPES THE RECORD
إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى الْمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٌ ١٧
مَا يَلْفِظُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ ١٨
❖ Qāf — 50:17–18
“When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left. He does not utter a word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].”

Even our words matter.
A believer therefore learns to guard his tongue, knowing that speech is among the things for which he will be accountable.

❖ ③ YOUR RECORD WILL BE BROUGHT FORWARD
وَكُلَّ إِنسَانٍ أَلْزَمْنَاهُ طَائِرَهُ فِي عُنُقِهِۦ ۖ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كِتَابًا
يَلْقَاهُ مَنشُورًا ١٣
اقْرَأْ كِتَابَكَ كَفَىٰ بِنَفْسِكَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيبًا ١٤
❖ Al-Isrā— 17:13–14, 36
“And We have fastened every person’s deeds to their neck, and on the Day of Judgment We will bring forth a record which they will find laid open. [It will be said:] ‘Read your record. Today there will be no need for anyone to call you to account other than yourself.’”

The record will not remain hidden forever.
A day will come when each person will confront what he himself has put forward.

❖ ④ NOTHING SMALL OR GREAT IS OMITTED
وَوُضِعَ الْكِتَابُ فَتَرَى الْمُجْرِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا فِيهِ وَيَقُولُونَ يَا وَيْلَتَنَا
مَالِ هَٰذَا الْكِتَابِ لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيرَةً وَلَا كَبِيرَةً إِلَّا أَحْصَاهَا ۚ
وَوَجَدُوا مَا عَمِلُوا حَاضِرًا ۗ وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ أَحَدًا
❖ 04 Al-Kahf — 18:49
“And the record will be placed, and you will see the criminals fearful of what is within it. They will say, ‘Oh, woe to us! What is this record that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?’ And they will find what they did present before them. And your Lord does not wrong anyone.”

The āyah contains a profound warning:
لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيرَةً وَلَا كَبِيرَةً إِلَّا أَحْصَاهَا
Nothing is overlooked.

❖ ⑤ SECRET CONVERSATIONS ARE ALSO KNOWN
أَمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّا لَا نَسْمَعُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْوَاهُمْ ۚ بَلَىٰ وَرُسُلُنَا لَدَيْهِمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
❖ Az-Zukhruf —43:80
“Or do they think that We do not hear their secrets and private conversations? Yes indeed! Our messengers are with them recording.”

What is hidden from people is never hidden from Allāh ﷻ.
The believer's private life therefore matters just as much as his public life.

❖ ⑥ THE SCALES OF JUSTICE
وَنَضَعُ الْمَوَازِينَ الْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْئًا ۖ وَإِن كَانَ
مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَاسِبِينَ
06 Al-Anbiyāʾ — 21:47
“And We shall set up the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be wronged in the least. And if there is even the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.”

Divine justice is complete.
Even something as small as the weight of a mustard seed is not overlooked.

❖ ⑦ WHEN THE SECRETS ARE EXPOSED
يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ
❖ Aṭ-Ṭāriq — 86:9
“The Day when secrets will be tested.”

The Day of Judgment is a day when what was hidden will no longer remain hidden.
Therefore, purification of the heart and sincerity of intention are matters of tremendous importance.

❖ ⑧ NOTHING CONCEALED WILL REMAIN HIDDEN
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
❖ Al-Ḥāqqah — 69:18
“That Day you will be exposed, and nothing hidden about you will remain concealed.”

Today people may see only what we choose to show them.
On that Day, nothing will remain concealed.

❖ ⑨ WHAT IS WITHIN THE HEARTS WILL BE BROUGHT FORTH
وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي الصُّدُورِ
❖ Al-ʿĀdiyāt — 100:10
“And what is within the breasts will be brought forth.”

The Qur’ān draws attention not only to outward actions but also to what lies within.
Intentions, motives and hidden matters are known to Allāh ﷻ.

“A soul will then know what it has sent forward and what it has left behind.”

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا أَحْضَرَتْ
❖ At-Takwīr —81:14
“A soul will then know what it has brought.”

The future meeting with our record should influence the way we live today.

❖ ⑫ MAN HIMSELF WILL BE A WITNESS
يُنَبَّأُ الْإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ١٣
بَلِ الْإِنسَانُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ ١٤
❖ Al-Qiyāmah — 75:13–14
“Man will be informed that Day of what he sent forward and what he left behind. Rather, man will be a witness against himself.”

A person may attempt to justify himself before others, but he cannot escape the reality known to his own soul.

❖ ⑬ LOOK WHAT YOU ARE SENDING FORWARD
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلْتَنظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ
إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
❖ Al-Ḥashr — 59:18
“O believers! Be mindful of Allāh, and let every soul look to what it has sent forth for tomorrow. And be mindful of Allāh. Surely Allāh is All-Aware of what you do.”

The Qur’ān teaches us to examine our deeds before the day when our deeds are examined.
This is the essence of self-accountability.

❖ ⑭ EVEN THE WEIGHT OF A MUSTARD SEED
يَا بُنَيَّ إِنَّهَا إِن تَكُ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ فَتَكُن فِي صَخْرَةٍ أَوْ فِي
السَّمَاوَاتِ أَوْ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَأْتِ بِهَا اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَطِيفٌ خَبِيرٌ
❖ Luqmān — 31:16
“O my son! If a deed were the weight of a mustard seed, and it were within a rock, or in the heavens or the earth, Allāh would bring it forth. Surely Allāh is Most Subtle, All-Aware.”

No location can hide a deed from Allāh ﷻ.

❖ ⑮ EVEN THE SMALLEST DEED WILL BE SEEN
فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ ٧
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ ٨
❖ Az-Zalzalah — 99:7–8
“So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it. And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.”
❖ ✦ REFLECTION ✦ ❖
Never consider a good deed insignificant.
Likewise, never treat a sin as something too small to matter.

❖ ⑯ GOOD AND EVIL WILL BE PRESENT
يَوْمَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ مُّحْضَرًا وَمَا عَمِلَتْ مِن سُوءٍ
تَوَدُّ لَوْ أَنَّ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَهُ أَمَدًا بَعِيدًا ۗ وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ اللَّهُ نَفْسَهُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ
رَءُوفٌ بِالْعِبَادِ
❖ Āl ʿImrān —3:30
“On the Day every soul will find whatever good it has done present before it, and whatever evil it has done, it will wish there were a great distance between itself and that evil. And Allāh warns you of Himself. And Allāh is Most Kind to His servants.”
❖ ✦ REFLECTION ✦ ❖
The opportunity to repent and change exists before the record is finally presented.

❖ ⑰ NOTHING IS NEGLECTED FROM THE RECORD
وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَائِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلَّا أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُم ۚ
مَّا فَرَّطْنَا فِي الْكِتَابِ مِن شَيْءٍ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يُحْشَرُونَ
❖ Al-Anʿām — 6:38
“There is no creature on earth nor bird that flies with its wings except that they are communities like you. We have not neglected anything in the Record. Then to their Lord they will be gathered.”

❖ ⑱ THE BODY ITSELF WILL TESTIFY
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا مَا جَاءُوهَا شَهِدَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَأَبْصَارُهُمْ وَجُلُودُهُم بِمَا
كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ ٢٠
وَقَالُوا لِجُلُودِهِمْ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ قَالُوا أَنطَقَنَا اللَّهُ الَّذِي أَنطَقَ كُلَّ
شَيْءٍ ۖ وَهُوَ خَلَقَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ٢١
❖ Fuṣṣilat — 41:20–21
“When they reach it, their hearing, eyes and skin will testify against them for what they used to do. And they will say to their skins, ‘Why have you testified against us?’ They will reply, ‘Allāh has made us speak—the One Who makes all things speak. He created you the first time, and to Him you will be returned.’”

The human being may forget what he did.
The record does not.
And on that Day, even parts of the body will testify.

❖ ⑲ THE HANDS WILL SPEAK AND THE FEET WILL TESTIFY
الْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَا أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا
يَكْسِبُونَ
❖ Yā-Sīn— 36:12, 65
“Today We will seal their mouths, while their hands will speak to Us and their feet will testify to what they used to earn.”
┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄ ❖ 🌿 ❖ ┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄

❖ ⑳ THE HEARING, SIGHT AND HEART WILL BE QUESTIONED
وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۚ إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ
أُولَٰئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُولًا
❖ Al-Isrāʾ — 17:36
“Do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Surely the hearing, sight and heart—all of these will be questioned.”

What we listen to, what we look at, what we pursue and what we allow into our hearts are all matters deserving careful attention.

❖ ㉑ WHAT WE SEND FORWARD AND WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ
أَحْصَيْنَاهُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
❖ Sūrah Yāsīn — 36:12
“Indeed, We give life to the dead and record what they have sent forward and their آثار (traces). And We have enumerated everything in a clear record.”
❖ ✦ REFLECTION ✦ ❖
The āyah mentions both:
مَا قَدَّمُوا — what they sent forward
and
آثَارَهُمْ — their آثار, traces or effects.
This reminds us that our influence can continue beyond the immediate action itself.

❖ ㉒ EVERYTHING HAS BEEN ENUMERATED
وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ كِتَابًا
❖ An-Nabaʾ — 78:29
“And We have recorded everything in writing.”
❖ ✦ REFLECTION ✦ ❖
The Qur’ānic message is consistent:
The record is complete.
Our deeds are not forgotten.
Our words are not insignificant.
Our hidden actions are known.
Our intentions are known to Allāh ﷻ.
And the Day will come when every person will encounter what he has put forward.

✦ THE FINAL REMINDER ✦
مَا الَّذِي نُرِيدُ أَنْ نَجِدَهُ فِي كِتَابِنَا؟
What do we want to find in our record?
Before the record is opened, we still have an opportunity.
We can repent.
We can correct our mistakes.
We can increase our good deeds.
We can return rights to their owners.
We can control our tongues.
We can guard our eyes and ears.
We can purify our intentions.
We can leave behind beneficial traces.
And we can continually ask Allāh ﷻ for forgiveness and acceptance.
The Qur’ān does not merely tell us that deeds are recorded—it calls us to prepare for the day when the record will be presented.
فَلْيَنظُرْ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مَّا قَدَّمَ لِغَدٍ
“Let every soul look to what it has sent forward for tomorrow.”

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ كِتَابَنَا فِي أَيْمَانِنَا، وَيَسِّرْ حِسَابَنَا، وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا
ذُنُوبَنَا، وَاجْعَلْ مَا نُقَدِّمُهُ لِغَدٍ حُجَّةً لَنَا لَا عَلَيْنَا
Āmeen.
