The numbers above are approximate study figures, not a single universal count.
A ḥadīth collection may count repeated narrations, different chains of transmission, and different wordings in different ways. Therefore, the total can vary between editions.
The number of narrations in a book does not, by itself, determine the authenticity of every narration it contains.

◇ Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim are the two famous Ṣaḥīḥ collections.
◇ Sunan Abī Dāwūd, Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī, Sunan al-Nasāʾī, and Sunan Ibn Mājah complete the commonly known Six Books.
◇ Musnad Aḥmad is one of the largest famous ḥadīth collections.
◇ Each collection has its own arrangement, purpose, and scholarly significance.
