{وَمَا عَلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ }

Sūrah An-Nūr, 54:
{وَمَا عَلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ }
وَقَالَ وَهْبُ بْنُ مُنَبِّه: أَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَى نَبِيٌّ مِنْ أَنْبِيَاءِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ -يُقَالُ لَهُ: شِعِيَاءُ -أَنْ قُمْ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَإِنِّي سَأُطْلِقُ لِسَانَكَ بِوَحْيٍ. فَقَامَ فَقَالَ: يَا سَمَاءُ اسْمَعِي، وَيَا أَرْضُ انْصِتِي، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَقْضِيَ شَأْنًا وَيُدَبِّرَ أَمْرًا هُوَ مُنَفِّذُهُ، إِنَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُحَوِّلَ الرِّيفَ إِلَى الْفَلَاةِ، وَالْآجَامَ فِي الْغِيطَانِ، وَالْأَنْهَارَ فِي الصَّحَارِي، وَالنِّعْمَةَ فِي الْفُقَرَاءِ، وَالْمُلْكَ فِي الرُّعَاةِ
وَيُرِيدُ أَنْ يَبْعَثَ أُمِّيًّا مِنَ الْأُمِّيِّينَ، لَيْسَ بِفَظٍّ وَلَا غَلِيظٍ وَلَا سَخّاب فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ، لَوْ يَمُرُّ إِلَى جَنْبِ السِّرَاجِ لَمْ يُطْفِئْهُ مِنْ سَكِينَتِهِ، وَلَوْ يَمْشِي عَلَى الْقَصَبِ الْيَابِسِ لَمْ يُسْمَعْ مِنْ تَحْتِ قَدَمَيْهِ. أَبْعَثُهُ مُبَشِّرا ونذيرًا، لا يقول الخنَا
أَفْتَحُ بِهِ أَعْيُنًا عُمْيًا، وَآذَانًا صُمًّا، وَقُلُوبًا غُلْفًا، وأسَدِّده لِكُلِّ أَمْرٍ جَمِيلٍ، وَأَهَبُ لَهُ كُلَّ خُلُقٍ كَرِيمٍ، وَأَجْعَلُ السَّكِينَةَ لِبَاسَهُ، وَالْبِرَّ شِعَارَهُ، وَالتَّقْوَى ضَمِيرَهُ، وَالْحِكْمَةَ مَنْطِقَهُ، وَالصِّدْقَ وَالْوَفَاءَ طَبِيعَتَهُ، وَالْعَفْوَ وَالْمَعْرُوفَ خُلُقَهُ
وَالْحَقَّ شَرِيعَتَهُ، وَالْعَدْلَ سِيرَتَهُ، وَالْهُدَى إِمَامَهُ، وَالْإِسْلَامَ مِلَّتَهُ، وَأَحْمَدَ اسْمَهُ، أهْدِي بِهِ بَعْدَ الضَّلَالَةِ، وأعلِّم بِهِ مِنَ الْجَهَالَةِ، وأرْفَعُ بِهِ بَعْدَ الخمَالة، وَأُعْرَفُ بِهِ بَعْدَ النُّكْرَة، وَأُكْثِّرُ بِهِ بَعْدَ الْقِلَّةِ وَأُغْنِي بِهِ بَعْدَ العَيلَة، وَأَجْمَعُ بِهِ بَعْدَ الْفُرْقَةِ، وَأُؤَلِّفُ بِهِ بَيْنَ أُمَمٍ مُتَفَرِّقَةٍ، وَقُلُوبٍ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ، وَأَهْوَاءٍ مُتَشَتَّتَةٍ
وَأَسْتَنْقِذُ بِهِ فِئَامًا مِنَ النَّاسِ عَظِيمًا مِنَ الهَلَكة، وَأَجْعَلُ أُمَّتَهُ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ، يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ، وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ، مُوَحِّدِينَ مُؤْمِنِينَ مُخْلِصِينَ، مُصَدِّقِينَ بِمَا جَاءَتْ بِهِ رُسُلي. رَوَاهُ ابْنُ أَبِي حَاتِمٍ

“And the Messenger is not responsible except for the clear conveyance.”

Wahb ibn Munabbih narrates:
Allah revealed to a prophet from among the prophets of the Children of Israel—whose name was Shayā (Isaiah):
“Stand among the Children of Israel, and I will cause revelation to flow from your tongue.”
So he stood and proclaimed:
“O heavens, listen! O earth, be silent! For Allah intends to decree a matter and execute a command that will surely come to pass.
He intends to change desolation into abundance, deserts into rivers, poverty into richness, and to entrust the kingdom not to kings, but to shepherds.
And He intends to raise an unlettered prophet from among the unlettered, who is neither harsh nor rude, nor one who shouts in the markets. If he walked past a lamp, its light would remain undisturbed by his calm, and if he were to walk over dry reeds, no sound would be heard beneath his feet.
I will send him as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner, one who does not speak foul.
Through him, I will open blind eyes, unstop deaf ears, and unlock sealed hearts.
I will adorn him with every noble trait and bless him with every virtuous character.
I will make tranquility his garment, righteousness his banner, piety his conscience, wisdom his speech, truthfulness and loyalty his nature, and forgiving and overlooking his character.
Truth his law, Justice will be his way, guidance his leader, and Islam his religion. His name shall be Aḥmad (The Praised One).
Through him, I shall guide after misguidance, teach after ignorance, elevate after obscurity, make known after anonymity, increase after scarcity, enrich after poverty, unite after division, and reconcile between divided nations, differing hearts, and scattered desires.
Through him, I will rescue multitudes from destruction and make his Ummah (nation) the best of all nations sent forth for mankind — enjoining right and forbidding evil, united in monotheism, faith, sincerity, and belief in what My messengers have brought.”
This report is commonly attributed to Wahb ibn Munabbih (وَهْب بن منبّه), and is cited by the Qur’anic exegete Ibn Abi Hatim (ابن أبي حاتم) in his Tafsīr. It is also quoted by later scholars when discussing the Quran 7: 157 or Biblical foretelling of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, particularly in connection with passages such as Isaiah.
