Ibn Abī al-Dunyā رحمه الله mentioned in his book At-Tafakkur wal-Iʿtibār that some of the wise people said:

“Give life to your heart with admonition, illuminate it with reflection, discipline it through asceticism, strengthen it with certainty, humble it through remembrance of death, make it aware of mortality, show it the calamities of this world, warn it about the trials of time and the constant changes of life, present to it the stories of those who came before, and remind it of what befell them. Walk through their dwellings and آثار, look at what they did, where they ended up, and what became of them.”

This beautiful counsel is quoted by Imām Ibn Kathīr رحمه الله in his Tafsīr under Sūrah al-Ḥajj 22:46.

🔸 Reflect Before It Is Too Late

Allah ﷻ says:

“Have they not travelled through the land so that they may have hearts to understand and ears to hear? For indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts within the chests that are blind.”

[Al-Ḥajj 22:46]

True blindness is not necessarily the loss of physical sight.

A person may have perfect eyesight yet fail to see the lessons around him.

He may see people growing old, yet forget that he too will grow old.

He may attend funerals, yet forget that one day he will be carried.

He may walk past the ruins of those who came before, yet fail to ask:

Where are they now?

🔸 Learn From Those Who Came Before

Allah ﷻ repeatedly calls us to look at the fate of earlier nations.

Their strength did not save them.

Their wealth did not remain with them.

Their homes eventually became empty.

Their lives came to an end.

The wise person looks at these lessons and says:

“What can I learn before it becomes my turn?”

The purpose of remembering history is not simply to know what happened—it is to take ʿibrah.

🔸 Keep Your Heart Alive

Give your heart life through:

📖 Admonition — listen to reminders.

💭 Reflection — think deeply about Allah's signs and your own life.

🌿 Zuhd — do not allow the temporary world to control your heart.

🤲 Yaqīn — strengthen yourself with certainty in Allah ﷻ.

⚰️ Remember Death — remember that this life has an ending.

🌎 Reflect on the World — recognize how quickly circumstances can change.

📜 Study the Past — learn from those who lived before us.

🌿 A Final Reminder

Do not allow your heart to become so distracted by the world that you stop learning from it.

🌿 Look around you.

🌱 People are born.

🍂 People grow old.

💰 People become wealthy.

💔 People lose everything.

💪 People become strong.

🌿People become weak.

🏠 People build homes.

🍂 People leave them.

And eventually, everyone returns to Allah ﷻ.

So let us be people of Reflection, Remembrance, and ʿibrah.

May Allah ﷻ give life to our hearts, illuminate them with beneficial reflection, strengthen them with yaqīn, and grant us the ability to recognize the lessons before us.

🗣️ Words

🚪 Opportunity

Once they are gone, they cannot be brought back.

Allah ﷻ says:

💎 3 Things in Life That Are Most Valuable

☪️ Faith

🕌 Prayer

Protect your īmān and never allow the ṣalāh to become secondary in your life.

Allah ﷻ says:

“Indeed, prayer has been prescribed upon the believers at specified times.”

[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1; Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1907]

⚠️ 3 Things That Can Destroy a Person

🔥 Lust

🔥Anger

Unchecked desires can lead to sin. Pride can prevent a person from accepting the truth, and uncontrolled anger can lead to regret.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Do not become angry.”

[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6116]

🌙 3 Things in Life That Are Certain

🤲 Return to Allah

Everything in this world changes, but death is certain.

Allah ﷻ says:

“Every soul will taste death.”

[Āl ʿImrān 3:185]

Use your time.

🗣️ Guard your words.

🚪 Take opportunities to do good.

🤍 Protect your faith and hope.

🕌 Hold firmly to your prayer.

🤲 Be sincere in your deeds.

⚠️ Control your desires and anger.

⚰️ Remember death and prepare for the Hereafter.

Reflect upon it. Act upon it. And share beneficial reminders with those you care about.

May Allah ﷻ bless our time, strengthen our īmān, forgive our shortcomings, and allow us to meet Him while He is pleased with us.

❀ TAWAKKUL: LEAVE IT TO ALLAH ﷻ ❀

Allah ﷻ Is More Merciful to You Than Your Mother

➖➖➖

Tawakkul means placing your trust in Allah ﷻ while taking the means available to you.

When life becomes difficult, do not allow hardship to push you away from Allah.

Let it push you toward Him.

🌿 Follow the Example of Ibrāhīm

Allah ﷻ tells us about Ibrāhīm

“And he said, ‘Indeed, I am going to my Lord; He will guide me.’”

[Aṣ-Ṣāffāt 37:99]

Ibrāhīm عليه السلام left his people after they rejected the truth and attempted to harm him.

Yet he did not despair.

He trusted his Lord.

He moved forward knowing that Allah ﷻ would guide him.

That is Tawakkul.

When you find yourself surrounded by difficulties, sins, or trials, do not remain trapped.

Turn toward Allah ﷻ.

Step away from the things that are harming your soul and move toward His guidance.

❤️ Allah Is More Merciful Than a Mother

The Prophet ﷺ saw a mother desperately searching among the captives for her child. When she found him, she held him close and nursed him.

He ﷺ then said:

They replied, “No.”

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Allah is more merciful to His servants than this mother is to her child.”

[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5999; Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2754]

Think about the greatest love you have experienced from a mother.

Then remember that Allah's mercy toward His servants is even greater.

🌸 Allah Loves Your Repentance

Never think that you have gone too far to return to Allah ﷻ.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His servant when he repents to Him…”

The Prophet ﷺ then gave the example of a person who loses his camel in a desert and suddenly finds it again.

[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6309; Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2747]

So do not delay repentance.

Do not tell yourself:

“I will repent later.”

🌙 “I will change during Ramadan.”

“I will become serious about my faith when I am older.”

You do not know how much time you have.

🏃 Flee to Allah ﷻ

Allah ﷻ says:

“So flee to Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.”

[Adh-Dhāriyāt 51:50]

🏃 Flee from sin to Allah.

🌙 Flee from despair to Allah.

💪 Flee from your weaknesses to Allah.

🌿 Flee from the distractions of the dunya to Allah.

🌧️ Flee from despair to Allah.

💪 Flee from your weaknesses to Allah.

🌿 Flee from the distractions of the dunya to Allah.

🤲 And when you fall, return again.

🤲 A Final Reminder

Oh believers—do not wait for a special month, a special day, or the “right time” to repent.

☝️ Repent now.

🤲 Trust Allah ﷻ.

🌿 Be patient.

🛤️ Take the means.

🚫 Leave what displeases Him.

And keep walking toward Him, even if you have to take small steps.

Allah ﷻ does not ask you to be perfect.

He asks you to return to Him.

May Allah ﷻ strengthen our tawakkul, forgive our sins, accept our repentance, guide our hearts, and allow us to flee to Him before we are returned to Him.
