(53)باب مَا جَاءَ فِي خُرُوجِ النِّسَاءِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ

 

Chapter: What Has Been Narrated Concerning Women Leaving (Their House) For The Masjid

 

عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَمْنَعُوا إِمَاءَ اللَّهِ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ وَلَكِنْ لِيَخْرُجْنَ وَهُنَّ تَفِلاَتٌ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

 

 

Narrated AbuHurayrah:

 

Do not prevent the female servants of Allah from visiting the mosques of Allah, but they may go out (to the mosque) having no perfumed themselves.

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ لاَ تَمْنَعُوا إِمَاءَ اللَّهِ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ ‏"‏ ‏

 

Ibn ‘Umar reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying; Do not prevent the female servant your women from visiting the mosques of Allah.

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ لاَ تَمْنَعُوا نِسَاءَكُمُ الْمَسَاجِدَ وَبُيُوتُهُنَّ خَيْرٌ لَهُنَّ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

 

 صحيح : حكم 

 

Ibn ‘Umar reported the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying; Do not prevent your women from visiting the mosque; but their houses are better for them (for praying).

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ ائْذَنُوا لِلنِّسَاءِ إِلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ بِاللَّيْلِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ابْنٌ لَهُ وَاللَّهِ لاَ نَأْذَنُ لَهُنَّ فَيَتَّخِذْنَهُ دَغَلاً وَاللَّهِ لاَ نَأْذَنُ لَهُنَّ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَسَبَّهُ وَغَضِبَ وَقَالَ أَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ ائْذَنُوا لَهُنَّ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَتَقُولُ لاَ نَأْذَنُ لَهُنَّ

 

 

‘Abd Allah b. ‘Umar reported the prophet (ﷺ) as saying; Allow women to visit the mosque at night. A son of his (Bilal) said; I swear by Allah, we shall certainly not allow them because they will defraud. I swear by Allah, we shall not allow them. He (Ibn ‘Umar) abused him and became angry at him and said :

 

I tell you that the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) said: Allow them; yet you say; we shall not allow them.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ لَوْ تَرَكْنَا هَذَا الْبَابَ لِلنِّسَاءِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ نَافِعٌ فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ مِنْهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ حَتَّى مَاتَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ رَوَاهُ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ ‏.‏

 

Grade: Sahih (Al-Albani) صحيح (الألباني) حكم :

 

Ibn ‘Umar reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying :
if we reserve this door for women (it would be better). Nafi' said: Ibn ‘Umar did not enter through it( the door) till he died.

 

Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated though a different chain of transmitters by 'Umar. And this is more correct.

Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Do not prevent women from their share of the mosques if they seek your permission.”

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Any woman who adorns herself with strong fragrances should not attend the evening prayer with us.”

Women Having Proper Etiquette In The Mosque

 

عَنْ عَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت لَوْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى مَا أَحْدَثَ النِّسَاءُ لَمَنَعَهُنَّ الْمَسْجِدَ كَمَا مُنِعَتْ نِسَاءُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

‘Amrah bint Abdur Rahman reported: Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said, “Were the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to see what women are now doing, he would have prevented them from attending the mosque, just as the women of the children of Israel were prevented from attending.”

Can Women Go To Mosques?

 

But the fact that praying at home is preferable does not mean that that women are not permitted to go to the mosque, as is clear from the following hadith:

 

From ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, who said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘Do not prevent your women from going to the mosque if they ask your permission.’" Bilal ibn ‘Abdullah said, "By Allah, we will prevent them." (Ibn ‘Umar) turned to him and told him off in an unprecedented fashion, saying: "I tell you what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) said, and you say ‘By Allah, we will prevent them’!!"

Conditions Attached  For women To Go To The Mosque , As Follows:

 

She should wear complete hijab .

 

She should not go out wearing perfume .

 

She should have the permission of her husband.

 

Her going out should not involve any other kind of prohibited acts, such as being alone in a car with a non-mahram driver. If a woman does something wrong like that, her husband or guardian has the right to stop her; in fact it is his duty to do so.
