 Head Region (منطقة الرأس)

 

 

 

1. **Face** (وجه - Wajh)

 

 

- "I have turned my face towards the One Who has originated the heavens and the earth—being upright—and I am not one of the polytheists.”

 

 

(6:79)

 

إِنِّى وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِىَ لِلَّذِى فَطَرَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًۭا ۖ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ٧٩

 

 

 

2. **Eyes** (عين، أعين - 'Ayn, A'yun)

 

 

- "And We made him sleep, as a comfort for your eyes." (20:40)

 

 

- "وَأَلْقَيْتُ عَلَيْكَ مَحَبَّةً مِّنِّي وَلِتُصْنَعَ عَلَىٰ عَيْنِي" (٢٠:٤٠)

 

 

 

3. **Ears** (أذن، آذان - Udhun, Adhān)

 

 

- "In their ears is deafness." (2:7)

 

 

- "خَتَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَعَلَىٰ سَمْعِهِمْ ۖ وَعَلَىٰ أَبْصَارِهِمْ غِشَاوَةٌ" (٢:٧)

 

 

 

4. **Mouth** (فم - Fam)

 

 

- "They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts." (3:167)

 

 

- "يَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَاهِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ" (٣:١٦٧)

 

 

 

 

5. **Tongue / ** (لسان - Lisān)

 

 

- "Do not rush your tongue trying to memorize ˹a revelation of˺ the Quran".

 

(75:16)

 

 

لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ ١٦

 

 

 

6. **Lips** (شفة، شفتين - Shafah, Shafatayn)

 

 

- "Have We not made for him two eyes? And a tongue and two lips?" (90:8-9)

 

 

- "أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ عَيْنَيْنِ ۝ وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ" (٩٠:٨-٩)

 

 

 

 

7. **Heels** (أَعْقَـٰبِ - Heels)

 

 

وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌۭ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ ۚ أَفَإِي۟ن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَـٰبِكُمْ ۚ وَمَن يَنقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًۭٔا ۗ وَسَيَجْزِى ٱللَّهُ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ ١٤٤

 

Muḥammad is no more than a messenger; other messengers have gone before him. If he were to die or to be killed, would you turn back on your heals ( regress into disbelief?) Those who do so will not harm Allah whatsoever. And Allah will reward those who are grateful.

 

(3:144)

 

 

 

 

8. **Forehead** (جبين، جبهة - Jabīn, Jabhah)

 

 

- "And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead." (37:103)

 

 

- "فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ" (٣٧:١٠٣)

 

 

 

 

 

9. **Neck** (عنق، رقبة - 'Unuq, Raqabah)

 

 

- "Indeed, We have placed upon their necks shackles." (36:8)

 

- "إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلَالًا" (٣٦:٨)

 

 

 

## Torso and Upper Body (الجذع والجزء العلوي)

 

 

 

 

10. **Chest/Breast** (صدر - Sadr)

 

 

- "And We have removed whatever is within their breasts of resentment." (7:43)

 

 

- "وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ" (٧:٤٣)

 

 

 

 

11. **Heart** (قلب - Qalb)

 

 

- "The day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children, But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." (26:88-89)

 

 

- "يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ ۝ إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ" (٢٦:٨٨-٨٩)

 

 

 

 

12. **Back** (ظهر - Zahr)

 

 

- "which weighed so heavily on your back, " (94:3)

 

 

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ ٣

 

 

 

 

 

13. **Backbone/Spine** (صلب - Sulb)

 

 

- "Man was created from a fluid, ejected, Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs." (86:6-7)

 

 

- "خُلِقَ مِن مَّاءٍ دَافِقٍ ۝ يَخْرُجُ مِن بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ" (٨٦:٦-٧)

 

 

 

 

 

14. **Ribs** (ترائب - Tarā'ib)

 

 

- "Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs." (86:7)

 

 

- "يَخْرُجُ مِن بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ" (٨٦:٧)

 

 

 

## Limbs and Extremities (الأطراف)

 

 

 

 

15. **Hand** (يد - Yad)

 

 

- "The Hand of Allah is over their hands." (48:10)

 

 

- "يَدُ اللَّهِ فَوْقَ أَيْدِيهِمْ" (٤٨:١٠)

 

 

 

 

16. **Arm** (ذراع - Dhirā')

 

 

- "And their dog stretching his two forelegs at the entrance." (18:18)

 

 

- "وَكَلْبُهُم بَاسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيْهِ بِالْوَصِيدِ" (١٨:١٨)

 

 

 

 

 

17. **Fingertips** (بنان - Banān)

 

 

- "Yes, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers." (75:4)

 

 

- "بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ" (٧٥:٤)

 

 

 

 

18. **Leg/Foot** (رجل - Rijl)

 

 

- "On this Day We will seal their mouths, their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify to what they used to commit".

(36:65)

 

ٱلْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰٓ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَآ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ٦٥

 

 

 

 

19. **Shin** (ساق - Sāq)

 

 

- "The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration." (68:42)

 

 

- "يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ" (٦٨:٤٢)

 

 

 

## Internal Organs and Other Parts

20. **Skin** (جلد - Jild)

 

 

- "Every time their skins are roasted through We will replace them with other skins." (4:56)

 

 

- "كُلَّمَا نَضِجَتْ جُلُودُهُم بَدَّلْنَاهُمْ جُلُودًا غَيْرَهَا" (٤:٥٦)

 

 

 

21. **Stomach/Belly** (بطن - Batn)

 

 

- "Then there comes out from their bellies a drink, varying in colors." (16:69)

 

 

- "يَخْرُجُ مِن بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَانُهُ" (١٦:٦٩)

 

 

 

 

 

22. **Womb** (رحم - Rahim)

 

 

- "He knows what every female carries and what the wombs lose [prematurely] or exceed." (13:8)

 

 

- "اللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَحْمِلُ كُلُّ أُنثَىٰ وَمَا تَغِيضُ الْأَرْحَامُ وَمَا تَزْدَادُ" (١٣:٨)

 

 

 

23. **Bone** (عظم - 'Azm)

 

 

- "He says, 'Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?'" (36:78)

 

 

- "قَالَ مَن يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ" (٣٦:٧٨)

 

 

 

24. **Blood** (دم - Dam)

 

 

- "He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine." (2:173)

 

 

- "إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةَ وَالدَّمَ وَلَحْمَ الْخِنزِيرِ" (٢:١٧٣)

 

 

 

 

25. **Flesh** (لحم - Lahm)

 

 

- "Would any of you like to eat the flesh of their dead brother? You would despise that! And fear Allah. Surely Allah is ˹the˺ Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful". (49:12)

 

 

بَعْضًا ۚ أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَن يَأْكُلَ لَحْمَ أَخِيهِ مَيْتًۭا فَكَرِهْتُمُوهُ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ ١٢

 

 

 

26. **Nails** (أظفار - Aẓfār)

 

 

- "And to those who are Jews We prohibited every animal with claws." (6:146)

 

 

- "وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ هَادُوا حَرَّمْنَا كُلَّ ذِي ظُفُرٍ" (٦:١٤٦)

 

 

 

27. **Joints** (مفاصل - Mafāṣil)

 

 

 

28. **Throat** (حلقوم - Hulqūm)

 

 

- "Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat." (56:83)

 

 

- "فَلَوْلَا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ" (٥٦:٨٣)

29. **Hearing** (سمع - Sam')

 

 

- "Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those one will be questioned." (17:36)

 

 

- "إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُولَٰئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُولًا" (١٧:٣٦)

 

 

 

30. **Sight** (بصر - Basar)

 

 

- "Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision." (6:103)

 

 

- "لَّا تُدْرِكُهُ الْأَبْصَارُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الْأَبْصَارَ" (٦:١٠٣)

 

 

 

 

31. **Speech** (نطق - Nutq)

 

 

- "They will say, 'Allah has made us speak, who makes everything speak.'" (41:21)

 

 

- "قَالُوا أَنطَقَنَا اللَّهُ الَّذِي أَنطَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ" (٤١:٢١)

 

 

 

 

32. **Fingertips/Fingerprints** (بنان - Banān)

 

 

- "Yes, We are able to proportion him and restore his fingertips." (75:4)

 

 

- "بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ" (٧٥:٤)
