NAMES OF (JANNAH) MENTIONED IN THE QURAN

 

 

 

Here is a list of the names and types of gardens (Jannāt) mentioned in the Qur’an, along with their corresponding verses and English translations

 

(Sahih International translation):

 

 

 

** 1. جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ (Gardens of Eternity / Eternal Gardens)**

 

 

وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَمَسَاكِنَ طَيِّبَةً فِي جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ وَرِضْوَانٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

 

**(At-Tawbah 9:72)**

 

*"Allah has promised the believing men and believing women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence; but approval from Allah is greater. It is that which is the great attainment."*

 ** 2. جَنَّاتِ الْفِرْدَوْسِ (Gardens of Paradise / Firdaws)**

 

 

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ الْفِرْدَوْسِ نُزُلًا

 

**(Al-Kahf 18:107)**

 

*"Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – they will have the Gardens of Paradise as a lodging."*

 ** 3. جَنَّاتِ الْمَأْوَىٰ (Gardens of Refuge)**

 

 

أَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَلَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ نُزُلًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

 

**(As-Sajdah 32:19)**

 

*"As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, for them will be the Gardens of Refuge as accommodation for what they used to do."*

 ** 4. جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ (Gardens of Bliss / Delight)**

 

 

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ النَّعِيمِ

 

**(Luqmān 31:8)**

 

 

*"Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds – for them are the Gardens of Pleasure."*

 ** 5. جَنَّةُ الْخُلْدِ (The Eternal Garden)**

 

 

قُلْ أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ أَمْ جَنَّةُ الْخُلْدِ الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَاءً وَمَصِيرًا

 

**(Al-Furqān 25:15)**

 

*"Say, 'Is that better or the Garden of Eternity which is promised to the righteous? For them, it is a reward and destination.'"*

 ** 6. جَنَّتَانِ  (Two Gardens)**

 

 

وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتَانِ * فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ * ذَوَاتَا أَفْنَانٍ  فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ * فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ

 

 

**(Ar-Rahmān 55:46-50)**

 

*"But for he who has feared the standing before his Lord are two gardens. So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? Having [spreading] branches. So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? In both of them are two springs, flowing."*

 ** 7. دَارُ السَّلَامِ (The Home of Peace)**

 

 

وَاللَّهُ يَدْعُو إِلَىٰ دَارِ السَّلَامِ وَيَهْدِي مَن يَشَاءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

 

**(Yūnus 10:25)**

 

*"And Allah invites to the Home of Peace and guides whom He wills to a straight path."*

 ** 8. دَارُ الْقَرَارِ (The Home of Permanence)**

 

 

يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّمَا هَٰذِهِ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا مَتَاعٌ وَإِنَّ الْآخِرَةَ هِيَ دَارُ الْقَرَارِ

 

**(Ghāfir 40:39)**

 

 

*"O my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter – that is the home of permanence."*

 **9. الْجَنَّةُ أُورِثْتُمُوهَا ( The Paradise, which you have been made to inherit)**

 

 

وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهِمُ الْأَنْهَارُ وَقَالُوا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا لِهَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِيَ لَوْلَا أَنْ هَدَانَا اللَّهُ لَقَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَنُودُوا أَن تِلْكُمُ الْجَنَّةُ أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

 

**(Al-A’rāf 7:43)**

 

 

*"And We will have removed whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [while] flowing beneath them are rivers. And they will say, 'Praise to Allah, who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us. Certainly the messengers of our Lord had come with the truth.' And they will be called, 'This is Paradise, which you have been made to inherit for what you used to do.'"*

**10. جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ  ( Gardens And Rivers )**

 

 

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ * فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ

 

**(Al-Qamar 54:54-55)**

 

 

*"Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers, in a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability."*

 **11. الدَّارُ الْآخِرَةُ (The Hereafter Home)**

 

 

وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَلَلدَّارُ الْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

 

**(Al-An’ām 6:32)**

 

*"And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah, so will you not reason?"*

 **12. الْحُسْنَىٰ (The Best)**

 

 

لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَىٰ وَزِيَادَةٌ وَلَا يَرْهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمْ قَتَرٌ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌ أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

 

**(Yūnus 10:26)**

 

 

*"For those who do good is the best [reward] and extra. No darkness will cover their faces, nor humiliation. Those are companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally."*

 **13. الْفَضْلُ (The Bounty)**

 

 

وَابْتَغُوا مِن فَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

 

**(Al-Jumu’ah 62:10)**

 

 

*"And seek the bounty of Allah and remember Allah often that you may succeed."*
