🛑ZINA :🚫 UNLAWFUL RELATIONSHIPS

💔 When Temptation Leads You Across the Line

Do not be afraid to read this. Read it as a reminder to yourself and to every Muslim who wants to protect their faith, marriage, family and relationship with Allah.

Zina is one of the serious sins warned against in Islam. Allah does not only tell us to avoid zina; He tells us not to go near it.

“Do not go near adultery. It is truly a shameful deed and an evil way.”

— Qur’an 17:32

That is a powerful warning. A believer should not only avoid the final act, but also avoid the paths that can lead there.

Protect Your Haya (Modesty)

Imagine having a husband or wife at home who trusts you, while secretly becoming involved with someone else.

Imagine teaching your children, “Stay away from zina,” while privately doing the very thing you warned them against.

Where is our haya? Where is our fear of Allah?

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Haya (modesty) is a branch of faith.”

— Sahih al-Bukhari 9

A Muslim should protect his or her modesty and remember that privacy from people does not mean privacy from Allah.

🔐You may hide the messages.

🗑️You may delete the conversations.

📍You may lie about where you were.

But Allah knows.

“He knows the stealthy glances of the eyes and what the hearts conceal.”

— Qur’an 40:19

Zina Often Begins Before the Final Act

Zina may begin with something that appears small.

✨A glance becomes a conversation.

💬A conversation becomes flirting.

💞Flirting becomes emotional attachment.

🔒Secret messages become secret meetings.

🚧And eventually, a boundary is crossed.

This is why Allah says:

وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا الزِّنَىٰ

“Do not go near zina.”

— Qur’an 17:32

🚫Do not play with temptation.

🔒Do not maintain secret relationships.

💬Do not entertain inappropriate conversations.

Do not convince yourself that you can keep walking toward the fire without eventually getting burned.

🚪Walk away while you still can.

Zina Can Destroy What You Already Have

A person may think, “It is only one mistake.”

But one sinful relationship can destroy years of trust.

It can hurt a husband or wife, affect children, damage families and leave behind emotional pain and regret.

A few moments of forbidden pleasure are not worth risking your marriage, your family, your dignity and your relationship with Allah.

The Prophet ﷺ warned strongly about adultery. When asked about the greatest sins, he mentioned associating partners with Allah, killing one's child, and then committing adultery with one's neighbour's wife.

“Then that you commit adultery with the wife of your neighbour.”

— Sahih Muslim 86a

This reminds us how seriously Islam treats the betrayal involved in zina.

Don't Believe Every Claim—Follow the Evidence

We should fear zina because Allah has forbidden it, not because we need to repeat unverified statements.

The Qur'an and authentic Sunnah already give us enough warning.

Allah calls zina a shameful deed and an evil way.

And Allah also leaves the door of repentance open.

“Except those who repent, believe and do righteous deeds. For them, Allah will change their evil deeds into good deeds.”

— Qur’an 25:70

What If You Have Already Fallen?

🌤️ Do not despair.

If you have committed zina, repent to Allah.

🛑 Stop the sin.

End the relationship that is taking you toward it.

💔 Feel sincere regret.

🤲 Ask Allah for forgiveness.

🛑 Make a firm intention not to return.

And remember the mercy of Allah.

“Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Surely He is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

— Qur’an 39:53

Your past does not have to become your future.

Remember This When Temptation Comes

When nobody else is watching, Allah is watching.

When nobody else knows, Allah knows.

When you have an opportunity to commit the sin but walk away for the sake of Allah, Allah knows that too.

💍 Remember your spouse.

👨‍👩‍👧 Remember your children.

🕌 Remember your faith.

⚖️ Remember the Day of Judgment.

And remember that what you give up for Allah is never truly lost.

Allah says:

“Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without measure.”

— Qur’an 39:10

Repent Before It Is Too Late

Do not say:

“I will repent later.”

Nobody knows when death will come.

What if tonight is your last night?

What if the next sin you commit becomes the last deed recorded in your life?

⏳ Do not wait.

🚪 Leave the sin.

🔒 Leave the secret relationship.

🤲 Turn back to Allah.

🕊️ Make sincere tawbah.

Allah's mercy is greater than your sin when you sincerely return to Him.

May Allah protect our eyes from haram, our hearts from temptation, our marriages from betrayal and our souls from zina. May Allah grant us haya, taqwa and the strength to walk away from everything that displeases Him.

SIX WAYS WE CORRUPT OUR HEARTS WITHOUT REALISING:

Six Diseases of the Heart: A Reminder from Hasan al-Basri (رحمه الله)

1) Delaying repentance while persisting in sin. ✅

2) Seeking knowledge without putting it into practice. ✅

3) Practising acts of worship without sincerity (Ikhlāṣ). ✅

4) Consuming Allah’s blessings without showing gratitude to Him. ✅

5) Being displeased with Allah’s decree and failing to accept His wisdom. ✅

6) Burying the dead without taking a lesson from their departure. ✅

*THE HUMAN SOUL : Sin, Repentance, and Purificationl*

*The Burden of Sin and the Beauty of Repentance*

_It is true that the nafs by its very nature is inclined towards freedom. However, religion restricts this ‘freedom’ in order to discipline the nafs._

■ Without such restriction, we could lose all good values and the nafs might lose control and act in a completely irresponsible manner.

_The nafs is constantly being tempted since what is alluring is always attractive. _

■ A person may enjoy listening to and taking part in gossips, deriving a vicarious pleasure in it because s/he feels s/he is better than the person whose weaknesses are being exposed.

■ Or the nafs may find committing adultery an enjoyable way of satisfying its desires.

_*But if we really think, we’ll find that this short-lived ‘freedom’ is not worth the trouble, because we will have to bear the consequences of our misdeeds for a long time.*_

■ If we think about all the sinful pleasures we might have enjoyed 10 years ago, and then ask whether we’re left with any of those pleasures now, what would be the answer?

Nothing!

His pleasures of sin have vanished, yet the punishment remains. *

_But think of fasting in Ramadhan 10 years ago. What effects are we feeling now from the suffering of thirst? _

What is left of that hunger pangs 10 years ago?

*The pain and suffering undergone for the sake of performing duties lillah have disappeared, but the reward stays with us. *

_You have been endowed by Allah SWT the power of reasoning and the will to choose which way is best. _

*So, will you not utilize them before it’s too late? *

⚡ FROM MISTAKES TO FORGIVENESS s: The Mercy of Allah

⚡ “The Compassion and Mercy of Allah: Understanding His Forgiveness, Love, and Blessings Upon His Creation”

*1.  First, it is only out of compassion for us that Allah ﷻ is showing us the Right Way and not for His own interest. *

_It will not serve any interest of His if we follow the Right Way and keep away from the wrong ways; nor will it do Him any harm if we swerve from it. _

_We will be serving our own interest and avoiding harming ourselves. _

_Therefore, it is His kindness that teaches us the right conduct to enable us to attain higher ranks and restrains us from wrong behavior that will throw us to the lowest depths of degeneration. _

*2. Second, our Lord is not ruthless. *

_He does not enjoy punishing us for trifling offenses and errors. _

_As a matter of fact, He is kind and sympathetic to all His creatures and rules over them with great compassion_

_That is why He forgives and forbears our shortcomings over and over again and shows compassion and leniency to us even though we become guilty of disobedience, sins and crimes. _

_He forgives and forbears and gives us respite_

*“ REGRET IS REPENTANCE ”

*Regret is a Main Condition, or the Greatest Aspect, of Repentance*

Hence the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

الندم توبة ، وهو حديث حسن من حديث ابن مسعود، أخرجه ابن ماجه، وصححه الحاكم، وأخرجه ابن حبان من حديث أنس وصححه

“Regret is Repentance, and it is a ḥasan (good) hadith narrated from Ibn Masʿūd. Ibn Mājah transmitted it, and al-Ḥākim declared it authentic. Ibn Ḥibbān also transmitted it from Anas and declared it authentic.”

One of the scholars even said:

يكفي في التوبة تحقق الندم على وقوعه منه، فإنه يستلزم الإقلاع عنه والعزم على عدم العود، فهما ناشئان عن الندم لا أصلان معه

 انظر: فتح الباري (13/471)

*Regret is sufficient to achieve repentance*, for it implies giving up the sin and resolving not to go back to it, which stem from regret and do not occur independently of it

See: Fath al-Baari (13/471).

*“Regret is repentance”: * because this will lead to the other essential components of repentance – namely *giving up the sin and resolving not to go back to it, and restoring people’s rights wherever possible*.… What is meant is remorse for having committed the sin because it is a sin, and for no other reason.

BREAKING THE CYCLE OF SIN: Al-Israa: 8

From Sin to Salvation: The Power of True Repentance

*"It is expected, [if you repent], that your Lord will have mercy upon you. *

*But if you return [to sin], We will return [to punishment] *

Al-Israa: 8

And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison-bed."

▪ Every type of disobedience is a legacy of a nation from among the nations which Allah destroyed

Sodomy is a legacy of the People of Lot

Taking more than one’s due right and giving what is less is a legacy of the People of Shu’ayb

Seeking greatness in the land and causing corruption is a legacy of the People of Pharoah

Pride/arrogance and tyranny is a legacy of the People of Hud

So, the disobedient one is wearing the gown of some of these nations who were the enemies of Allah

Similar punishment awaits similar sin…and history is a witness to the fate of these people

May Allah SWT forgive and crown our efforts with success. Aamin

THE IMPACT OF SINS ON THE HEART : 83.14

The Rust on the Heart: Lessons from Al-Mutaffifin (83:14)

No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

Al-Mutaffifin : 83.14

The reason for their inability to see the obvious truth or respond to it: is that “the sin has covered their hearts,”

▪ Indeed, the hearts of those who indulge in sin become dull, as if they are veiled by a thick curtain which keeps them in total darkness, unable to see the light.

▪ Thus, they gradually lose their sensitivity and become lifeless.

The Prophet ﷺ said

*“Verily! When a man commits a sin, it throws a black spot over his heart. *

*If he repents, his heart is polished; but if he persists in his practice, the stains increase.” *

[Ibn Jareer, At-Tirmidhī, Al-Nasai and Ibn Majah.]

▪ Explaining this Ayah, Hasan Basri said,

_ “It is a case of one sin on top of another until the heart is blinded and dies.” _

Thus, we have learnt the situation of transgressing unbelievers, as well as their motives for transgression and rejection of the truth.

DO NOT DESPAIR IN THE MERCY OF ALLAH

wp-1472247937535.gif

SOMETHING TO PONDER

Some of us may have committed such serious sins that even Iblees may feel shy and embarrassed for us. These sins may have been so severe that we hit rock bottom and became worse than animals. As a result, we may feel that there is no way we could ever redeem ourselves and there is no hope in attaining Allah's mercy; we may even be convinced that we don't deserve it.

But you know what? We are human beings and our nature is that we err and slip up. We can sometimes be so good that we are better than the angels and at other times we may get so caught up in evil that we reach the level of animals. Such is the nature of man.

Remember though that 'all the children of Adam are prone to err, and the best of them are those who frequently turn to Allah in repentance.'

The important thing then is that we not remain in that state of sin. We may fall and become weak and give in to temptation, but as soon as we realize what we've done, we have to try and make it right. We have to flee to the One we were disobeying, for He is unique; He is more than happy to receive us and forgive us even after we betray Him and disobey Him. There is none like unto Him!

There was once a gorgeous prostitute from Bani Israel who couldn't be had for less than 100 Dinars. Everyday, she'd pass this devout worshipper in his monastery; a man so devoted to Allah that he never sinned. But one day he fell for this woman, he was human and was tempted. He tried to have his way with her, but she refused unless he could pay the 100 Dinars. The man, however, was poor and owned nothing. He wanted her so badly though, that he left his monastery and began labouring to collect the 100 Dinars.

When he finally had enough, he went to her home and knocked on the door. She answered, dressed to kill and in all her beauty. The man said, here I am, here's the 100 Dinars. She invited him in and beautified herself even more and climbed on to her bed of gold. She then called him to herself, but at that point, he just fell to the ground.

The woman scolded him, you claimed that you wanted me so badly and went and collected all this money, and now that I'm offering myself to you, you just sit there! The man responded, I remembered that I will have to stand before Allah, the Exalted and Mighty, and my limbs wouldn't allow me to get up, that's why I remained sitting.

These words had an impact on the woman as well; after hearing them, she too began to tremble and was overcome with fear. She said to him, by Allah, I won't allow you to leave this home until you marry me. He swore that he wouldn't marry her and begged her to let him go, but the woman refused. The man told her to take the money and just let him leave but she refused. So finally he said to her, my home is in such and such a village; perhaps when you've repented you can come there and I might marry you. The man simply wanted to leave, so he gave her that hope.

The man then left, filled with remorse, regretting his disobedience to Allah, regretting leaving his worship of Allah to collect 100 Dinars with which to commit fornication. He left turning to Allah in repentance and begging of His forgiveness.

As for the woman, she too repented to Allah and began detesting the sins she had so often committed. She then set out looking for that person who was the catalyst for her repentance.

She found his village and asked around until she found the man's house. She knocked on the door and he opened it; but upon seeing her, he recalled that horrible day on which he was about to commit a filthy act and fell to ground, dead from shock!

She was saddened by his death but vowed to marry one of his relatives due to her love for the man. She was told that he had a poor and righteous brother, and she agreed to marry him. From that marriage, Allah granted them seven righteous, devout and ascetic worshippers.

La ilaha illallah!!! Look at what a great thing taubah/repentance is! So who is up to it? Who will turn to Allah and knock on His gates right now, begging of His forgiveness and mercy?
